About me

It's been a hell of a journey so far and I'll write my biography one fine day - for now - here's the snappy version - if you want to know more, just get in touch.

Alrighty then - After a boring commercial apprenticeship I joined the army - then escaped to the Vatican to become a Swiss Guard and protect the Pope. Did that for two years before joining the United Nations. Worked at the New York headquarters, plus five years in Israel, Lebanon, Iran and Iraq.

I held different positions, among them security officer, and had my share of close calls with bullets, bombs and kidnappings but hey, I've always been lucky. Quit the UN to go to acting school in New York - great school (the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre honed the talents of a great many brilliant actors - check it out). Alas - while there, I discovered screenwriting and, compared to writing, acting didn't stand a inkling of a chance. Graduated from the Playhouse in 1992 and haven't stopped writing since.

I moved to Switzerland in 1995 when I met my wife and we decided our kids should grow up here. A great decision - Switzerland's a fantastic place to be. And these days, as a writer, who cares where you're located. I'm in touch with the world from my cave and as for meetings - heck, the airport's 15 minutes from here.

I write thrillers, cop stories and all things dark and twisted. Working with some of Germany's best networks, producers, directors and actors, I've been busy creating top-rated TV movies and did episodic writing, too. My work has been Grimme-Prize (Germany's top TV honor) nominated.

More recently I've focused on adaptations (and have bloggged about it here). I've adapted the best-selling novel The Coffee Trader, by David Liss. The high-budget period film is currently in financing stages. Another recent adaptation is Brother Grimm, the best-selling novel by crime writer Craig Russell. It premiered in late October to top ratings. I'm also working on a bible for a series based on the novels by Russia's bestselling crime novelist Polina Daschkova.
